I respect you but bashing on a classic gfx admin saying she doesn't know how to do her job and such is just ******ed. First off the hat looks nothing like the original pylon hat and looks more uglier than the original so idk why you are crying so much and asking for the hat to be removed from your account. People will still see that your original hat is badass so stop crying and get over it. I'm sure it will never happen again and it's unfortunate it had to happen to you.

this isn't about any particular players interest... It's about the community of competitive players wanting to be treated well. I wouldn't be mad if a guilds 1k was somewhat ripped. There have been so many of those over the years, avoiding them all would be creative suicide. Gst hats are slightly different. There are 6 given out every 3 months. That's 24 hats a year. After 4 years that's 96 hats. We understand that it isn't easy to avoid that many designs. However, it should be easy to make hats that have similar looks but feel different. With a traffic cone/pylon it's very easy. You could -have a black base, instead of orange. -have the colors be red and white, instead of orange. -use the fatter version, the traffic barrel(there's also many different ways to do that one). -have little light reflectors on the hat. -fewer stripes. -caution tape These are simple ideas. it wouldn't take long to incorporate most of them. The issue isn't the fact they are a similar concept; with that many hats being made for gsts or for towers that's a relative guarantee. The issue is that the steps taken to differentiate the hats were minimal. I understand that she wasn't aware of the hat. But after the issue is realized, could small adjustments not be made? Sure, the adjusts likely wouldn't show up for awhile. That's out of staffs control as caches take awhile to update. However, at least they could know that something has been done about it. It sends a message that you guys care about how we feel. I don't know why small adjustments can't be made. Issues like these are rare. It would happen maybe 5 times a year, perhaps less. Instead you are setting a bad precedent by just ignoring it and saying "you are spoiled"(which Leah, to her credit, did not say). When mistakes like these happen it would be nice to see small adjustments or at least effort from classics gfx team to help alleviate the issue. |

Editing a hat is a finicky process some people don't seem to understand, but the hat already is different. Not in concept, but in design and artwork. |

"Leah didn't know it was a GST hat" Yet every other person in the game did? How are we holding GFX admins to somehow a lower standard to every single other player in this game? I know you're trying to defend her here but you're making her look way worse. You've come to the conclusion that I'm upset because I'm not the only person with a cone hat in this game anymore. This is because you're conveniently ignoring what I'm actually saying: when things like this happen it is indicative of a lack of interest, respect and creative decency for the competitive side of this game which is the only thing separating Graal from an interactive chatroom where you can dress up your character and go on dates at the burger refuge. I'm asking for the hats to be removed because you've made it consistently clear that they don't mean anything. If you're mad that players expect more from staff then thank god you aren't staff anymore- I'm damn near positive I can gather 6 player submitted hats next GST that will blow any hat that has been offered in the past 3 years out of the water. Furthermore, when you rely on player submitted stuff to drive your content on holidays like Christmas, why the hell do we even need a GFX staff? This was an easy thing to catch and it slipped through the cracks through carelessness- that's all that's being said here. I still don't understand how Unholy Nation which is like the most dysfunctional server in the entire ****ing history of this game got tournament rewards right and iClassic still doesn't. If you don't have 4 brain cells to see why this is an issue then you're beyond any more replies. |

I think it's funny how only 1 person sees and decides what submissions get accepted

I suppose the difference seen between the hats is different to everyone. You may feel like it's enough, where as I don't. However, neither of us have the hat. At the end of the day for us it doesn't matter what happens. For David it's different. While I understand that David doesn't deserve special treatment over the average player, I think that since he won the tournament for that hat it would be nice for his thoughts to be taken more seriously by staff. I'm not going to vilify Leah here. However, I think she is being fairly critiqued. She says that there is a team monitoring this, but there have been two instances of this(apparently both being made by Leah?). I understand people make mistakes. She didn't realize the hat existed. However we can't say "she made a mistake" but then not say "it's her responsibility to fix it". At the end of the day this won't be fixed. Because if staff doesn't feel like there is an issue there will not be a solution to it. But going into the future more care should be applied, because the potential of this happening will only continue to grow. |

I mentioned earlier that GST hats get more time sunken into them than any other seasonal project in the game (excluding christmas) but I don't think you guys can comprehend the amount of effort any of this takes. Even simply hosting a GST takes an entire team and it's a very stressful ordeal. No other event gets this much attention and catering, but you have to understand you guys aren't the only people playing the game. There is no obligation for you to play this game competitively. All of us are just doing our best to enjoy it. Quit trying to knock people who enjoy RPing in the Burger Refuge because it's just as justified as sinking 10 years into this game playing tournaments. In the end it genuinely doesn't matter.
Err both really. I mean, editing one hat is fine. There's really no problem to it so long as the winners can communicate what they want clearly, but problems can arise. When you have 6 gst hats where each of them has had at minimum 3 hours of work put into them it can be hard to find any motivation to change something unless it's an actual issue with the hat and not the team hating the color green or whatever. You need to understand that these are unpaid artists who are most likely only doing what they do because they enjoy their work. Assuming they only allowed the first place teams to get edits to their hats it can still be a grey area. Hats take time to make. Editing them takes even more resources which can be used to finish that project that has a deadline in a day. Where would we draw the line with these edits though? There's a lot of preferences that come into play. We can't just completely remake a hat in a different style because they think the Classic style looks childish. Uploading is an issue because of the cache cloud. File names have specific formats they need to follow. I understand that Unholy Nation could name their files supercooltournamenthat1337.png, but Classic is another world in comparison. The quality control I've seen isn't comparable to any other iOS server I've been on before. Now I personally don't understand why some of these things are this way, but I know for a fact they are. One of the Classic GFX staffs hat they made for a shop was uploaded broken, and it is still to this day broken because replacing files is a really weird process. In the end the teams knew what they were competing for. No one forced them to play for a specific hat.
The other hat was a whale I believe, and in Xmas presents there was a dolphin given away, or maybe vice versa? Not really sure about that to be honest.

Yogs post compressed: "I actually agree with the competitive players and think that this could have been handled more carefully, but I'm too stubborn/stupid to see how/why" Nobody is saying she took the gst cone hat and recolored it and released it. Everyone is saying that it was a bad move on her part to take the concept and general design for a first place hat, upgrade it and rerelease it as a Christmas gift. Even you. I never even asked her to fix the issue, it's beyond that at this point. It's dumb to me that you're pretending to understand what I'm talking about when I mentioned Unholy Nation when you said this:
As far as editing the first place hats goes, your entire argument falls apart when you realize that the artist of the GST hat that Alumni won was ready and willing to change the hat, along with the 7 winners who agreed to a design, yet Leah decided that it was some horrible thing that should never be allowed to happen. |
