As I said earlier, there are some undeniably bad aspects of this game such as the disadvantage to rural players, but I plan to still play and complete my badges and hopefully they fix some of the issues. Yeah I wasn't planning to be out until 5AM(when I finished) but I kept meeting people and we were having fun, did a lot of walking and at some points just used lures but the social aspect of this is amazing, really bringing people together out here. I walked to a lure module by myself late at night and a 32 year old& his wife ended up walking with me for an hour because they didn't think anyone should be walking alone. Eventually it was just a group of random people where anyone could join in, regardless of age/team and we've set up a part of town by the water as a designated get together spot every night since it has pokestops, one guy said he was talking to the city about adding some outlets/lights to it and maybe a few more benches, really hoping it takes off.

Does anyone feel like it's harder to throw a pokeball accurately after using a berry? My pokeballs just curves away frequently whenever I throw it straight. Should I learn to throw a curveball to counter this?

Yeah normally I would never walk with strangers, or even socialize with them randomly, but they were both PokemonGo players and we walked in a realitevly public area. Not sure if true or not but I heard curveballs increased the chance of catching the pokemon, I always throw curveballs and usually get great or excellenct, I also catch with AR turned off makes it much easier.
