I don't use gimp any longer because I keep having transparency issues. I use paint.NET instead..

Paint.net is simple and ez but gimp you can do gif

There is plugins for paint.net to allow gif animation inside the program, gimp is terrible in my opinion. The plugins paint.net have make it alot better.
