Streaming the GST to Twitch
* No promises yet, just posing the question. Many people have stated ways to reduce server lag during the GST tournament. One idea was that the server would be locked to everyone except those participating for a few hours and if people wanted to watch the GST it could be viewed on Twitch, being broadcast by a staff member. I can't shut the server off, but I could be in a position to stream the GST, however this wouldn't really work if <100 watched the stream AND logged off. Do you guys think this would actually work? My hope would be that the link of the broadcast was on the news and GOC facebook page so people could easily follow the link - or better still, it pops up when you try to log in. Thoughts? |

streaming the GST could definitely work but i don't know about the whole shutting off the server to everyone else thing. accounting for no-shows there are probably under 500 players participating in the GST of what, 4,300 online at 4PM on a saturday? doesn't seem that fair to the other 3,800 people trying to satisfy their graal addiction.

I am asking if it would actually benefit the GST if I streamed it, because it requires a lot of people to log out |

I stated this in another thread, and I don't think that any dev said it could ever happen Shutting out people who aren't participating I mean. Mostly I don't think that would ever happen, because Graal isn't just about gst. It's only a 1 day thing, and since not everyone on graal plays for gst, Graal has a business to run, so it still needs people buying gralat packs. Shutting out people from connecting would shut out sales as well. It would definitely be a lot better for the server, but not for it's business... MAYBE... Because, if the stream had let's say 3000-4000 viewers, then Graal would be around top 10/15 on the twitch list during that period. That would bring other people who have not heard of graal to maybe tune in to the stream, and possibly bring graal more customers. |

I would recommend jeffy, bancho, since they have the most enthusiastic commentaries that their viewers actually enjoy. They would have to have some sort of knowledge on certain call-outs though, so the event can be more hyped up, and they would have to know all the players participating. GST would probably take longer, since they would stream every match. It would be a lot nicer to watch with a commentary though. It would definitely involve the fanbase more, and let them know what is going on during key points, such as certain matches where you don't know if it's a tie or the team you think won, won. The commentators would tell you. Not to mention the chat would hype it up even more, especially when I already submitted head0 for :noob:, I think it was accepted. |

Well when you look at it, It would be cool to have a commentator who was knowledgeable for example for the final "leading up this final Alumni have been on an undefeated streak, not dropping a single round this tournament and winning 8 tournaments in a row now" "Their challenger, US, a legendary guild having won 11 gsts and currently being one of the most prestigious guilds in iClassic" This sort of commentary mixed with some sort of live casting/round calling would be amazing. Sadly I don't see this happening as unix is blinded by his daily income and he most certainly wouldn't approve of having less then 4500-5000 on during peak hour. |

I could start by commentating and streaming GSs during the lead up week to GST, however, this would be too late
