iDev sparring tips?
I just started sparring and it is really fun, and now I am curious to learn the secrets of it. Any tips for sparring against PC users?

Stop caring about your record, and you will get better. Seriously, the better sparrers spar in the main room, the only real way to get better is to practice, but its not good practice if youre selective sparring. Also, if youre sparring consistently, even if youre losing - it will put your name on the map. Better sparrers will notice you and who knows, you'll join a good GST team and go far. |

I'm not real good at iDevice specific help, but this general mentality is the way to go. |

I'm not an active sparrer, but PC players tend to do worse when you're wearing setsword no-sword.png

There is no secret, just bait your opponent, until they make mistakes. Doesn't matter which device you use, works on all. no-sword makes opponent and yourself not know where full reach is, only good when you want to rush, and possibly die like an idiot against a defensive player. I recommend not using it. Defensive: baddy_sword (any big sword) Pushing: stab swords, or no-sword Swords are just for effects though. They cause you to think that you are attacking really fast, and if you rush and move around a lot makes you look even quicker. Big defensive swords make your opponent know to keep their distance, and let's you know what your reach is. Very good for counter attacking when they want to rush. Hit first, and just stay back if opponent delays/lags/wants to rush into your sword. |

jeffy u have good stats bro so don't mess it up. - learn how to bait (make them chase u) - learn how to dodge hits - learn how to use blink (counter striking after a hit) - master your control/movement - push/charge/offense movement - back/defensive movement - predict enemies move and give an early hit - C spar movement - spamming skill ^^^ u naturally learn/understand by sparring a lot. there's no actual tips we can give. u can try it ur on and imitate some good spar moves from others and build ur own combination. i tried to imitate Quiondre, Hercules, Thallen and Male. i watch, spar, try new things and see how they react and deal with it. |

My advice would be you need to swing where there going, in the Lane. Make them walk into your sword, most pc's don't tend to swing more then once or twice at a time before they are back into their movements. My only other advice would be if your in the main room watch the matches, don't just pm. You'll learn a lot about the sparer your about to face just by watching how he goes about his match.

Keep your hands warm! I'm always down to practice in my guild house given that you're serious and not an obvious alternate account, to everyone out there. |

Also, if you haven't already, check out some of the sparing guides! Though I would say the main thing is just "practice, practice, practice."

-first actual good idevice sparrer answering- learn what "blink" is (the invincibility period after you are hit) and learn what ends it and how to apply it (i'm not writing the entire description because it's too long and i'm lazy) to be swift on the controls (what i do, which has been faster than everyone else's movement switches): - place your thumb in between all of the four arrows and move by barely tilting it around. sliding your thumb to each arrow is slow and doesn't allow for quick reaction movements. - to make your touch screen smoother rub your nose on the arrows. this may seem super weird and i thought the same thing when i was first told to do it but it actually works wonders. when sparring pcs, watch their patterns and learn how to take advantage of them. examples: - most pcs just run in circles waiting for you to charge and then attempt to counter-hit, it's super lame and boring but easy to defeat. predict their counter-hit pattern, charge to bait it, and then take a backwards step yourself and counter their counter. you can also occasionally just run back and forth in front of them and charge in for a free hit since the average reaction time of a graal player kind of sucks. this works for basically everybody you spar. - if the pc you're sparring is insanely annoying and abuses their strafe (walking up and down while looking to the right) until the end of time, pretend you're going to attack them head-on then switch it up and hit them from the top/bottom, since 9 times out of 10 they're just swinging to the right trying to abuse strafe for a hit. also always be mobile while sparring so your next move isn't super easy to predict, keep spamming those arrows and moving back and forth at a decent speed but try not to slip up. keep playing to get used to it, and when you have over 70,000 spars worth of experience, it comes completely natural. |

Sure Move Up, Down, Left, And Right and whenever you see an opportunity to hit your opponent just press the sword button and hit them 6 times and you win

What I'm doing to improve is thinking about why, how, and when did they hit me. For example if you're style is the c style and someone hits you in your arc. Why did they hit you? Maybe because your arc is too big or your too slow while doing your arc which makes you open. And we already established when did they hit you. So know you know why and how they hit you, so that's something to watch out for.

I personally have a much harder time fighting idevice players who's patterns are irregular and run around a lot. |
