So he claims, but I don't really remember a Xena either, and there weren't many players during these times. I don't know everything that went on but I have a memory of the stuff that mattered. Let me go on record and say that I don't even know why I joined the Baddies. For friendship. I was also in Jesus Freaks, which I identified more with. The Baddies had a bad reputation and were there from the beginning. I loved their talent, power, kinship, creativity; please don't associate me with the "bad" of the Baddies. I love all the guilds. I don't remember how long this went on but it was for a while then one day Vangel was like, "YOU'RE IN THE BADDIES?" I was like, "I finally became manager." He was like, "YOU CAN'T BE IN BOTH!" I had a high status in JF. I joined JF first, though, and had a good relationship with them, so technically I guess I was never a baddie … Imagine that, the Baddies—the most notorious Graal guild of all time—ran by a rogue. Both guilds had wonderful people, so it was worth it :-)

I remember Gandarian being leader of Baddies in 99. (I don't recall Antago having a high rank) I don't think I knew Antago personally, he was a LAT or something who expanded the size of the Graal map by a lot. I don't know which year that was. I know for sure I met Xena/Contego with Killermech in 2000. I didn't know him before that. C Style was the height of Graal sparring in 99, so no one was great yet? Also, I found the peak of Contego's sparring. http://teral.8m.net/spar_3_2_01.html Around when this tournament happened. Pachuka was only in Graal until 99 so there isn't much to say about him. He did tell me he played Graal in when it first went online. I didn't play until August becauase the site wasn't working for me. |

Also suggested to try going in straight line attacks but pretend they are doing "C" so we called it the "E". Anyway many people were good then and are now just becomes about who is liked, respected, or just the loudest to get any "real" recognition. |

I pretty much never wore a guild tag for any of the guilds mainly because I saw guilds as an opportunity not as an identity … Including the JF tag, although again there I had a high status and they did a lot of big favors for me. I think at the time I didn't realize how important guilds played a role; Gandarian actually programmed a number of NPCs including the first edition of the trident; Darkman programmed several NPCs including the original bomy-bopot (the animal, not the playable race). A number of features I had been pushing for had the support of the Baddies, as Darkman's coding favors initially allowed me to wave the bomy-bopots around Stefan to create the NPC Server for us. I don't recall much about King Clops myself, except that at one point I believed you did a cameo on my G-Server for some animated plays. Other than that, you were always very much a background player.

@antago in 2001 servers were not sold. Stefan allowed people to make servers but wouldn't put it on the start up menu without approval of testers/himself. I released the server Shaded Legend with Tyriel (he used a different account name before SL was released) on 03/2001 on the start up menu and did not ever have to pay. Later in June of 2001 I became a "global" but official title was Accounts Administrator and then by late summer of '01 to '03 I was Game Master "with" unixmad but for NA (North America). Which didn't make sense because unixmad basically just spoke to me on ICQ to get updated on what was going on once a month and did not actually do any labor or assist at all. A couple times Stefan, unix, and me had to speak on the phone but at that time it was very expensive so we limited our phone conversations. The actual time volunteered helping Graal as a brand for 18 hours a day and all pro bono is insane. In 2001 Graal had a spike in the players and I was manually creating accounts via [email protected] and handling any password issues. The website had issues automatically creating accounts so I had to manually create each one. Thousands of e-mails were coming in a day and I replied to each one personally. Also had [email protected] and would have to go around playerworlds dealing with "Owners" who would ban guilds because they could. It was basically a dictatorship and we had no structure. Eventually I recommended to Stefan that we change "Owner" of playerworlds to "Manager" because people believed they actually owned the server and copy rights. We also created "Playerworld Administration" because I couldn't handle all the work load of approving, uploading and removing servers. |
