Here goes nothing! Firefighting in Graal!!
Well, yesterday I was sitting at my house smoking and thinking whilist I was talking to firefighter Jeffrey, while I was talking to him it made me think how could we actually get firefighting implemented into the game? So I brainstormed a basic idea of random fires spawning around the map on a timer obviously, players will have to do a quest In destiny to receive a bucket item.(haven't thought of the quest really) You can fill it with water from any body of water and like the lantern fire it has a few uses before it runs out. The fires can come in multiple sizes and severity some requiring lots of water from many players and some that won't last long at all, once the fire is put out those who helped recieve a piece of charcoal or something of the sort that you can redeem at the fire department for nice rewards such as something like a fire truck mount. And in light of Rufus (IMO) awful idea to reduce to only three towers. Maybe towers themselves can catch on fire , making them unobtainable once the fire is extinguished it will take a few days to repair (basically a way to prevent guilds from homing towers too) and at the same time you could utilize this to do things like maybe a inferno Friday or something where all but one tower burns setting up an insane match of koth with all tower guilds basically. I'm sure I'll get a lot of negative feedback. But I havent had anytime to really think out all the details I came up with this last night. But by all means all feed back is appreciated, and thanks to Jeffrey and CM for supporting me to post this! |

"fire animations would cause lag" "random fire generation spawns would cause lag" "anything too hot causes lag" "aguzo causes lag" Anyways, the idea is great. The only problems I see are towers getting shut down by fires? No, that would really get in the way of people who don't want to participate in firefighting. Instead of a bucket, maybe a bottle like in zelda. Charcoal doesn't really sound much of a reward, maybe a medal. Fire truck mount? Maybe have it 2p and you would need a ton of medals to get it, so it can be something rare to have. Maybe prizes could be: 2p fire truck - biggest prize fire extinguisher (extinguish fires even faster/no need for water) - 2nd firefighter hat - 3rd bucket (extinguish fires faster/hold more water) - 4th Maybe have a special leaderboard in the fire department, showing x amount of fires taken out daily. Instead of towers burning, it would be fine for houses on the map to be burning, but not restricting access to those buildings. |

I only implemented that idea because I don't want there to be only 3 towers because I've been towering for 5 years now and I don't want to see what I loved so much change so drastically, but hikaru you are great with the ideas man me and you should come up with some stuff together, I had the idea for pumpkin blob for graaloween last year xD

The reason that towers are being reduced is: 1. To increase more competition 2. To make it harder to get to 1k thanks btw |

Honestly there needs to be more activities other than blob archery and bug catching, etc, I think towering is really what set Graal off back in 2010, and it seems to me that whenever I'm not towering im bored out of my mind trying to figure out what I am supposed to do. But I think the biggest problem with lag is the sheer amount of people that afk 24/7 I mean what's the point of dcing an account for not moving if its going to immediately reconnect, I've always supported the idea of making Graal city pkable and other places to reduce lag and figure out a way to get rid of code shops.

What worries me is that how will the reward system work out? What if players treat it more like a competition, like bug catching,What if this player kills another player just to put out a fire? You've got a 5-10 players fighting fires all at once, at least one of them is bloodthirsty for that fire truck mount and will kill players around them for the medals. And how would the players be rewarded? do you get a medal for each fire you put out? A medal for every 10 fires extinguished?
