What do you all think will be one of the next big breakthroughs in how human beings use technology? We've already seen a lot of things emerging over the past few years, like the internet, social media, 3D printing, smartphones, wearable tech, and so on. But it's always difficult to predict what's on the horizon.

Feel free to make wild speculations, but don't just dish out articles for things that already exist. :p

My first guess would be advanced robotics, considering the fact that Google now has their own robotics division and China is looking to replace a lot of workers with relatively inexpensive robots as well.

Plus 3D printing parts for them would probably make the whole process a lot cheaper too, and drive down the costs of putting more together.

That isn't to say that they'll be any closer to sentience, though, because there's still a huge amount we don't know about how consciousness works in human beings.

Oh man, that's actually a really good one. We're already up to 4K, but I haven't even seen anything in that format yet. I suspect we'll be a lot closer once 4K costs go down for consumers, though.

Is RPX a 4K format? We don't really have a lot of IMAX theatres around where I live, unfortunately. :[

I think Virtual Reality will become much much bigger than it is right now  

Robotics? Nah, thanks to China we are moving into the modification of live human embryos (an unborn or unhatched offspring in the process of development) and soon we'll be using technology to create the perfect children and get rid of disease.  

A slight increase in robotics is likely. I would assume virtual reality will grow a great deal. And of course more things to make human society lazier than it already is.

Not sure if we're saying the same thing here, but yeah humans that are created artificially where you can decide the genetics (I know this is available already to an extent in an attempt to fight inherited diseases, but im thinking on a much broader scale)

Besides that, advancements in robotics, bionics etc. will likely happen. I also believe that in our lifetime, we may see a new branch of Olympics with people using amazing bionic prosthetics or extensions to their current bodies to break limits.

Meeting people that aren't fake b***hes! ;3  

HoverboardsActual hoverboards (cough backtothefuture style)
-Robotics(doing stuff -like i saw something new they testing where its for restaurant and this robotic thing flys your food to your table aha)
-Driveless cars -Already being tested and in heavy development(with big budget set aside for it)-Idk how far it'll go to that being something though because alot of factors to think about.
Virtual/4D type stuff-I.E like looking through lense of some type and things around you are different/computor like -like looking at fridge and shows whats inside or shows notes you can edit somehow as a todo list or what you need for fridge ..this could be for other stuff fridge just an example.hmm im hungry.
More wearable tech
With stuff like Apple watch released, ive saw stuff like a ring that also tells when you get text/preview, a visual display of a bracelet etcetc

The whiteboard/blackboard will be replaced with tablets or TVs with draving softwares/whatever.

Yeah we are talking about the same thing, they can modify the whole DNA structure which pretty much allows us to play God.
