"CTO of the company that owns Desura here. We sorta love helping indie games. If there's anything we can do to help (servers, tech, labor, whatever), let me know."

Well don't just sit there, someone needs to tell Unixmad that Desura is wanting to partner up!

Ew reddit. isn't that the place where everyone jerks off a popular opinion and posts stolen jokes?

As cool as it was to see it get to the front page. The actual effect on the playercount on PC seems quite abysmal so far. I did see about 10-12 people in the tutorial on Zodiac last night when it was right on the front page but I don't think that many players are actually going to continue playing. Getting the game on Steam would probably be the biggest way to boost playercount but a lot of work would need to be done on the PC servers to make them more accessible to new players, along with making 'iGraal' (listed under an Official tab) accessible from the PC client so the game doesn't feel as dead. |

First thing I did when seeing it on the frontpage was check the playercount, and yeah: ![]() I've used Reddit numerous times to get exposure to several services, websites, etc., and the effect has always been the same: it's a good day of feel-good attention, and then almost nothing more. Nonetheless, what this does further prove is how careless management really is. There are dozens of opportunities in those comments, and not a single one will be looked into. The community has done everything imaginable for this game in the past 17 years, but the management is just pathetic. I'm not trying to sound like a downer, but this is definitely proof of it. Players and developers are constantly picking up the slack that Unixmad has left for us, and there's never anything to show for it. I wouldn't call this a revival, but I would say GJ to whoever made the post. We shouldn't have to be doing this type of thing. If they had any grasp of their business, they'd be waking up every day and doing things like this, starting small-scale advertising campaigns, and looking into other ways on how they can grow their most popular game. I'd like to see what a day at their office actually consists of. |
