iPhone fell in water
My iPhone fell in water. I immediately took it out and dried it with a paper towel, a few minutes later I tried it out, went on Clash of Clans. Everything worked fine but the sound. Is there a way for me to check if there was any more damage? Because right now everything works fine. Thanks

Was probably a pretty stupid idea to turn it on, could have resulted in short circuits... Seen as you did turn it on and it did work it should be fine.

Meh back in 2012 I dropped my iPod in the pond and it worked the next day, but soon after changes started happening to it like it wouldn't charge sometimes and the screen turned darker. Then I turned it off one day and it never came back on. If water gets into it, it starts dying very slowly in my experience.

From what I've seen, new generation iPhones (5 and above) are pretty reliable in dealing with water damage if dealt with quickly. In my knowledge your sound will return in a few days, but if you're truly worried put in a bowl of rice perhaps? Although I'm not sure that method is as efficient for phones with no easy access to te battery and other innards.

My mom dropped her iPhone in water numerous times and her battery life is noticibly shorter. It still works but you never know what damage it might have done. |

1) Never turn a phone on for at least a day or two when it has taken in water. It will only further damage the phone. 2) If you have a phone that allows you to remove the battery, do so immediately. 3) Put it in a bowl of rice and let it sit for a day or two. You can still do this to try to get rid of whatever water is left lingering in the phone... but turning it on may have damaged it permanently. 4) Most phones have an indicator inside that changes colors when it comes in contact with water, so they will be able to tell if it has taken water damage or not if you try to get it replaced. |

What Dusty said about the raw rice thing. Works like a charm for getting the rest of the water out, you'll (obviously) want it out ASAP.
