Introducing SourceVit!
Hi, I know this may be a bit lengthy but I've been wanting to share this here for awhile (well I usually share my projects on Graal Reborn but since it's down, I thought I'd have a crack here). I've been working on this for a few weeks now and just wanted to get the input of some Graalians since as you can see, the graphics and content resemble those of Graal. A lot of the art was either made by staff that we had picked up for the project or it's old/unused Graal Reborn art. Also a tip of the hat to Aeko for the temp used to make the semi-interior. As of now the game is currently unreleased (expected release is July 2015) . So let's begin with some information to get you started before it comes out: Concept: SourceVit is a game and website based around a virtual currency, what this means is that once we reach a good amount of active players, we will be providing ways for you to make real money, yes let me repeat that, real money simply by playing our game! Players will be able to mine and smith coins and turn them into money that they can transfer, trade, spend or bet on our website. Features of the Website: As I said, SourceVit is a game, as well as a website itself. If you watched our latest youtube video, you probably noticed that the game frame is embedded within a website. If you took a closer look, you'd have seen several tabs: Inbox, Market, Profile, Users, Stats...Let me break down each one for you (note: all the images for these tabs are at the bottom of this post): *Inbox: Source has its own email system that will allow you to send emails back and forth with your friends. *Market: This is where all the trading and transferring takes place. Here, you will be able to send or receive money from your friends or other users. *Profile: This is your own personal space where you can post notes and update your game picture and status. *Users: Source has this tab to help you keep track of all the users that play the game. This allows you to see how much money they have and their unique ID's, which I will go over later (see the questions at the bottom). *Stats: Simply put, this is where you see your character's progress in game and the achievements that you have unlocked along the way. * Features of the Game: Now onto the game, the source of all your revenue! (no pun intended). Here are some of the things you might notice: *Ore counters: These are the following 3 tabs on the top left of your screen: https://www.diigo.com/file/image/rorqpcczcepcdqqdpzbpepcsdd/SourceVit.jpg (Unsupported image host) After you mine rocks, you get what's called ore. There are 3 types of ore: copper, silver and gold. As you might have seen in our video You receive 1 ore per rock but it is randomly generated. Meaning that you may either receive 1 copper ore per rock, 1 silver ore per rock or 1 gold ore per rock. However, gold is more rare than silver and silver is more rare than copper, so you have less of a chance of getting one over the other. *XP bar: Every great game has an experience bar! The more you mine, the more xp you get, easy! XP is then used to level you up and after every level you receive certain perks (mining becomes faster for example). *Coin counter: This is the tab to the top right of your screen: https://www.diigo.com/file/image/rorqpcczcepcdsbbdzbpepdope/SourceVit.jpg (Unsupported image host) This is just what allows you to keep track of your money while you play the game. *Chat Window: Also notice the chat window at the bottom left, it allows you to view messages from the chat as you play the game, it updates in real time so you don't have to worry about missing anything! Common Questions: Q: So how does one make money in the game? A: You might have seen a bit of the magic in the video, but if not let me break it down. 1) You mine "ore" from the rocks 2) You walk up to the furnace (image below) and chose the amount of ore you want to convert into "bars": https://www.diigo.com/file/image/rorqpcczcepceaccazbpepebab/SourceVit.jpg (Unsupported image host) 3) After you do so, walk up to the anvil (image below) and turn those bars into coins! https://www.diigo.com/file/image/rorqpcczcepceaepczbpepecco/SourceVit.jpg (Unsupported image host) Q: What happens when you mine all the rocks? A: Not to fear! The rocks do not disappear forever, nor do they reappear when you refresh the page. Once you mine a rock, you must wait a certain amount of time for it to reconstitute itself. This is what we call a cooldown. The cooldown times are currently being discussed at the moment and they will reduce every time you level up, but they are currently set at an interval of 1 min. Q: I didn't see anything about a shop? How do you buy stuff? A: The shop is the last item on our agenda. It will have a tab all to its own. From the shop you will be able to buy potions and skins. *Potions: They may reduce or speed up certain things in game for a certain amount of time. (speed up xp gain, reduce cooldown time, speed up mining) *Skins: These are used to alter the appearance of your character. We are also thinking of inputting an option that will allow you to upload your own skins to our server. Q: How will you pay us when we start playing? A: After the game takes off and we being to reach a fair player count, we will begin by offering "exchanges". We will trade you your "vits" (coins) for other virtual currencies such as DogeCoin. Then we will move onto paying you either through PayPal or some other money transferring method that we will have implemented on our site. The money we will receive from ads and sponsors as well as those who buy vits or premium items in our shop, will be used to circulate the money from us to you! Q: What is a unique ID? A: It is a code that is automatically assigned to you when you register on our site. It allows you to make monetary transfers through our Market. When you want to send vits (coins) to someone for example, you would input his unique ID in the input field along with the amount you wish to send: https://www.diigo.com/file/image/rorqpcczcepcecrbqzbpepoaso/SourceVit.jpg (Unsupported image host) Core: This game was built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (+JQuery) and several APIs along with other languages to manage and store the data. Hope you enjoyed this lengthy description! Thanks for taking your time to read it. If you have any questions please feel free to comment below. Hey thanks anyway ![]() I do realize the graphics are a lot alike but I wouldn't call it a clone in terms of everything else. The concept itself is different however I do enjoy Zelda and Graal and thought that they would both blend in nicely with what I was making and this was the outcome! |

Ah yeah! I was hoping someone would ask that ![]() The good thing about the game is that it is a way for me to periodically track the activity of the players in order to determine how engaged they are and how often they use the website. As I have specified above, once we reach a decent playercount and the users seem to be coming back for more, I will begin to trade the vits (the game's coins) for other currencies like Dogecoin and Bitcoin (of which I hold). This will slowly start to create a market of exchanges and once that is put in place I will begin to provide services that will exchange vits for cash and allow other users to purchase vits with real money (just like how you can buy gralats). This flow of cash is what will build the virtual economy and ultimately raise the value of the currency itself. It is a bit of an investment but it's not as much of a risk as it seems as I will be exchanging based on the data I collect and making sure that things go smoothly during this process. |

There will be lot's to buy with vits and I will take suggestions to include things to add in the stores, but currently these are the items that we will have when the game is first released: 1) Skins: these are basically "outfits" or "costumes" for your player. You will be able to chose from around 10 to start with (this number will change as the game improves) 2) Potions or "pots": These are used to speed up or slow down certain things in game, notably experience gaining and mining speed but there will also be around 10 of those to chose from. (Weapons and furniture are something we will be looking to implement later on) |
