What The Superbowl Halftime Show Means for Katy Perry

And yet for Perry, the Super Bowl is extremely valuable, and not merely for the huge exposure it will provide her. (This year’s Super Bowl was the most-watched television broadcast of all time, and provided halftime act Bruno Mars with a healthy sales bump.) With this booking, Perry obtains something she’s sought throughout her career — credibility.

Perry is certainly famous — for as widely-watched as the Super Bowl is, it’s hard to imagine a pop music fan tuning in who isn’t aware of at least one of her hits. And yet she’s one among a very crowded field, a set of young female pop stars including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus, all of whom strive to define themselves and none of whom is a uniting figure. She’s a solid hitmaker with no real persona or standout trait (notably, she’s the only halftime show performer since the Janet Jackson incident to never have won a Grammy). While Madonna, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars were already alone in their fields when picked for the gig, Perry feels like she has something to prove.

But in February, she’ll be the only performer in her particular cohort to have played the Super Bowl. This is an opportunity for the singer behind some of the biggest pop songs in the world to become, if all goes well, one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

Tbh her vocal skills are mediocre at best, has 0 stage presence, and only has massive stage production her team puts up to mask her awful voice. This could either make or break her career. Gaga would've been a better choice or maybe even P!nk.

Isn't this the gossip thread? Why are we talking about sports?

And third masted watched? 110 viewers seems like a really small amount. I would get more views when I would do video announcements at school, lol.  

Actually it's 111.5+ million
And in the US it is the #1 most watched televised event

I caught my mistake. 110 million it should be, my bad. Even though this is pretty much confirmed, everyone gossips about what they think about the current topic(Katy Perry performing in the Superbowl).

However majority of those viewers are American, while everyone else in the world could care less. The Superbowl could only reach that amount due to America being a highly developed country and most families own television in order to view it and of course the amount of patriotism in America.

Compared to globally renounced events like the Olympics, FIFA, UEFA Champions League, or The Cricket World Cup, which each have gained viewership from multiple countries, the Superbowl can't really be considered a huge global sporting event.

Over the weekend, Snoop posted (and later deleted) an unkind meme to his 3.7 million followers. The photo showed an albino woman wearing no makeup with the caption, “Iggy Azalea No Make Up.”

The rappers have been friendly in the past. Iggy even appeared on Snoop’s GGN YouTube show in 2011.
