Played Classic/UN for a few years. Took a 4 year break from classic servers. Came to iClassic and I was good at GSing here, got noticed by the r0ller and offered in their gst team. I quit as they were not in iDev and then when I found out about GST, I convinced myself that one time I will win it but after understanding the community on here to get into a good team it is Score>Skill. So when I started sparring I was negative for my first 2 months because all I did was sit in main spar room and spar the pro's of this game whilst sparring offensively (I done so on Classic and UN). Then I realized the fact that because I can't move as fast as I do on Classic or UN that aggressive sparring is a 1 way trip so I switched to defensive. Now I'm Positive by about 200 hundred, and all I do is spar with honor. Whenever people call me a "*****" or a "waller" for sparring defensively it doesn't annoy me it just fuels me to carry on doing it because it's funny watching them reactions.

if someone's complaining about the way you spar then you're probably doing something right I actually love when people do it sometimes I just watch Sarah spar and laugh with her in guild messages about how people complain about the way she chooses to spar or when crazy people tell me I delay or hack to win spars, I don't even argue I just ignore or agree with them because it rustles their jimmies even further sometimes I even apologize for lagging when it's the other playing who is lagging, because I'm aware of how clueless the majority of the spar community is when it comes to understanding how that works (see first quote in signature) easy mental/emotional edge have fun sparring someone who you've managed to convince yourself has some sort of unfair advantage over you |

This post had me in tears, Victoria was a guy who used his sister's looks to portray himself as a female the best part is that my guy friend dated this other guy for a year thinking it was a female and he would always do spar for him. Carly is a straight female and the guy she was accused of really being is one of her good friends in real life who also plays. |

got from very negative (400-900) to positive before 2500 wins, yeah it took a while because for a long time I sucked ass, now 3700-3000 and still kind of suck ass. while i was sparring regularly I was pretty high up on the leaderboard but i got lazy and started a PC alt which i got to 160-55 but now i just casually pk for fear of hurting my record on it because my PC skills have degraded severely.

I had 2 wins out of 30 spars on my first month of this game. I trained myself through guild sparring for straight two years and I still suck. ![]() Last week, I got killed by la chica mexicana pura in the guild spar and she called me a newb. Urgh, I am still so upset about it!! I hate those monster energy addicts. |

I'm really really bad at spar. But it amuses me to watch it sometimes because people really have a hard time losing. My favorite is when they create this "unfair advantage" scenario and they will tell people theyre cheating over and over and still spar that same person over and over. Don't get me wrong there are definetley people who cheat but I think the wrong people get blamed.

I started on ipod touch in 2010. I didn't know much about sparring, and didn't know how fun it could become. My spar stats were very negative at first, so I tried to see what I was doing wrong. I would watch good people spar and try to mimic what they do. I got my stats to 2100 wins and 2100 losses. After that, I started getting better. Always trying to spar good people, until I saw how crazy quick people were on PC. I switched to PC by the time I was at 4000-3000. I started to practice my movement a lot, always forcing my fingers to react faster by moving side to side while I would wait in spar. Always tried to spar people like ihercules, Male, Talbourn, Clops, etc. I eventually got better and better and earned my 2:1 ratio naturally last year in 2014, when I hit 10,000 wins and 5,000 losses. I still had to get better and I am still working my way up to a 3:1 ratio. But, I have never liked to spar in any other room besides mixed, unless I see someone with a good ratio. I eventually caught up to the people I used to think were amazingly good, that I had no idea how to beat them by just fighting against them a lot. I made my own style of sparring which is fast-paced and combos. It works for me. Now I am 17,000-7,000. There are so many tricks I learned about sparring. Sparring in this game isn't just 4 buttons and swinging your sword. After 4 years of experience, sparring is all about positioning, timing, patience, and most importantly believing in yourself. Never forget It's better to try to beat someone good, win/lose, and learn. Rather than to beat some nub, and not learn anything, then when someone good comes around you will run out of room and go find more nubs to feed your fake ratio. Ratios don't justify how good you are. Spar for fun and for yourself, not for stats. |
