My old laptop cost $500 and ran Minecraft at 15-20 FPS lol. When I tried to play 2 YouTube videos at the same time, it started lagging and Firefox would crash. My current laptop was $600 (I think it was refurbished) and retail is $800. It's still slower than my friend's $600 desktop. Stretch your budget, because $600 for a good laptop isn't enough. .Just food for thought. |

If you want one for gaming, you should look for one with a decent GPU. it's pretty hard to find a laptop without intergrated graphics in that price range, but you may get lucky. Also, where are you looking to buy from? best buy? order online? If from newegg/tigerdirect I can help you find one. |

The reason anyone would buy a laptop over a desktop. Portability. Plus I am not here to spend $1000 for a laptop. It is mostly for school purposes and I just want the ability to play Minecraft, an MMO etc.

Had a little look around found this ($600): http://www.amazon.com/Asus-R510LA-RS...dp_ob_title_ce Seems like a decent price for the specs which seem ok: Spoiler
I haven't looked too much into it so you'd have to read the reviews to see what people say (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-X550LA-DH...DateDescending) |

OP just needs to search for the laptop online. You need to get an i5 minimum and a dedicated graphics card if possible. Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaPad...productDetails or this: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-V5...tag=1000100-20 I don't like Acers though. I bought a Lenovo Y510P a couple months ago...little over $900 basically a bumped spec'd model of that one I linked. http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaPad...s=lenovo+y510p |

Well, what kind of games are you looking to play? This matters a lot in what to buy, since you don't want to shell out a lot if you're going to play well-optimized games that aren't GPU-demanding like League of Legends or Civilization. I have a $575~ laptop with a low-end Radeon GPU (haven't bothered to actually check which model since I use it so sparsely, it's probably near bottom of the line) and not too powerful a CPU, but it maintains League at a solid 55-60 FPS and Civ at a stable 60 FPS. Even Counter-Strike Source gets a playable framerate in less populated lobbies.
