Yes indeed, but what was truly insane was the lag... It was sometime between 1.3.1 and 1.3.5 and there was ONE server a different version of what is today called "Classic" this and a few other times had 1000 players all on it, most of which were in lvl13 and surrounding levels. During this time most people had things like 300-700MHz CPUs, 64-128mb of ram and dialup. So you can imagine the lag insanity this event caused. I was there, the framerate was like 1 frame every 3 seconds until it was done.

I have never seen 1000 players on back then... 300-400 was the average. Then again I don't think I started playing until around 1.4x.

The reason I mention "first player" is because back then there was no NPC server to communicate data between players. It was all peer-to-peer. So whoever entered a level first was designated the "host" of that level. They acted in place of an NPC-server, communicating all the data(outside of player data, that was communicated between each player directly) of the level, such as NPC movement, arrows and such.

Therefor, "lag" depended entirely on how well the connection/PC of whoever entered the level first. In this case, whoever entered that level first probably had their PC crying by the time it was over.

what I want for Christmas:

to be able to log into Classic with my PC client

When I joined Graalians. this can go for anyone because it takes the game to a whole new level. you get to fully grasp that social aspect of the game and it changed us all for the better  

Wow i just had a epic moment in zone. Here i am on conquest with the planet seized by me and only me (no ones in my squad) and here comes a squad of 5 people, at first im like **** **** **** im boned. Then they all rushed in, a streamer, chaingun and 3 ap rippers and i just had my photon and snow rifle as a secondary for saber nubs. They started to open fire and im stuck in the middle. I opened fired back and by some miracle i held out for 7 minutes 5v1 with the base, then they all just left and i had a 29 streak with a 145 bounty on me. I have never felt like such a badass in graal until then.  

when I started my first riot over notch's failed math trivia question was fun.
