Railroads
Before I begin, let me just say that I do not oppose the tracks, because I extremely like them, and all the content/graphics it has come with. Now, after actually using these tracks to get to places, I have noticed that it isn't the most efficient way of travel. A nice feature would be an npc that would charge you, taking you to a short cutscene, and voila! Teleported to the destination you asked for. Priced could vary. Also, the npc could be at each sign, or just the station. |

If anything the inefficiency balances out the fact that you only have to get on the track then off you go.

I did a few tests... Going from Fort at York to Sardon's Tower took 1:12 by Mount at 5 Speed and 1:47 by Rail. While Sardons to Snow took 1:08 by Mount and 0:52 by Rail. So it really just depends on where you are going. I used the towers as points cu i figured that where people would want to get to and from the fastest. Going from York to snow by rail only takes about a minute. But by mount it would be closer to 2. |

I have suggested this before in different ways. You have to remember that there is 2 command features that teleport you to different spots as well to help with travel. I use unstuck me alot when traveling to graal city or south to swamp/dw. If i want to go to mod I usually use the unstick me. I'm sure once ppl get acclimated to the new rail system they will learn where they can cut corners to get into certain areas faster by using the rail system and hoping off at certain points and then using a mount the rest of the way to their destination rather than taking one or the other the whole way. Also when event's pop up I'm sure using the rail road might be the best way to get to harder to reach remote areas like snow with out having to fight through clogged up crowded paths you would run into when traveling by mount even if it takes a few seconds longer. |

It's better than it was, that's for sure. The railroad, I mean. Those gnomes really put in the extra effort, bless em. They missed an opportunity to work side by side with those bandit fellows... but in the end they probably managed to reserve a little underground haven down western swamp way... Though what comes of that will have to be seen... |

The railroad may not always be faster, but it's an enjoyable ride that you don't need to put any effort into. Just hop on, wait a few seconds to a minute, hop off. Easy and fun. |
