I hate when people play Minecraft for their first time and...
I really hate when I introduce a good friend to Minecraft and then all they do is get together with their friends, go on creative mode, place a whole bunch of dynamite down and just blow it up repeatidly. They don't even TRY survival mode, that's what really grinds my gears. Survival mode was what everybody did their first time playing, it was epic, fun, it was the best part of the game. But then my friends introduce their friends to Minecraft, then those friends introduce their friends to Minecraft, and they all say "Do creative mode only" or something like that. Seriously, I only have three friends who started out with survival and ask me questions like, "What do I do with iron?" and that makes me feel happy that they're actually playing a game, not throwing scattered TNT around the world, having people crowd around them and exploding it all. My first time playing I jumped in the trees, their first time playing they spend time figuring out how to fly, and they don't even know what any of the items do because of this. It's pretty much ruining their experience with Minecraft...even worse than building a bed your first night. TNT is not what Minecraft is about, but then again I guess Minecraft has been destroyed anyways. Try finding a seed with a flat area even relatively large...you won't. The only place I can build is in a desert, all the rest are infested with trees, water, underground caves, or grass. What also annoys me is that they don't even buy the game, they just play on a sight that gives Minecraft for free and averages around five frames per second. Like seriously...has the generation of Minecraft been ruinied? Did this new update with Minecraft's creative mode ruin the face of Minecraft? Will flat worlds be lost forever? See, look, now I've ended up ranting about the update, but now that I'm on the topic I mayswell let my thoughts out about it. I'm not saying "Dragons" and "Enderpearls" and "End Portals" aren't a big addition or a big update, I'm just saying that it's highly unecessary and we would be fine without it. The only thing 1.0.0 has done for us is taken a crap on our nature. Tell me what's nice about the update..swamp biomes? Mushroom cows? New Nether monsters? Music disks...? All this is unecessary, I think they're just hauling out random crap updates so that they can say they did something, the game was complete at 1.7. "The Adventure" update they call it, Minecraft is already an adventure, an adventure to find a decent house and ultimately find diamonds and kill monsters. Well, this update sucks, it's getting to me, I can't even play Minecraft anymore because of it's crap factor. Don't bother telling me this is in the wrong section for all you spammers out there, I'm already aware, you don't need to try to boost your post count. |

I did survival my first time and I liked it. However, today I hate survival. Whatever base I build something happens to it. I tried building a house out of wood in the sky and when I tried to make a nether portal I accidently lit one piece of wood and my whole house burned down. I also tried making one underwater, but the water won't go away no matter how many buckets I use and it's in an enclosed box. I tried giving Minecraft a second try, but I'm really not liking it. Your friends should really try Survival mode, but Creative mode should be used to practice building things before they start building it on Survival so they don't waste materials.

What are these mushroom cows you speak of? I pretty much agree with you on this topic. After my first night I got sick of it and played using inv edit. I never actually learned how to play until I started on a server. I do think the creative mode update was a good idea though. It just depends how people use it.

The first thing I did when I bought minecraft was log onto the graalians server. Haven't really played offline at all. It's no fun offline for me, and it's even less fun in creative mode. It's one way the game is actually complete with it being there, as servers can easily take advantage of it and it helps things go a lot smoother, but it's not that fun for me. |

My first diamond pickaxe got lost because of my cousin. I went into nether to get some glowstone and nether rack, when my cousin screams; OMG A GHOST! he pushes me away from the keyboard and jumped down to the lava. He died and started to laugh because he thought they spelled "respawn" wrong. He was 9 years old...

I was clueless as to what I was supposed to do with the Iron Ore when I first mined it... When the mineshafts came into play, I was so confused as to why I couldn't remember placing planks and fences down. I didn't even know how to make fences. When I started, I didn't see a "Survival/Creative" switch, so I just started in survival. When I started playing Minecraft, I was told to just buy it. Don't ask any questions, just buy, log on, and start a new world. I had no idea what I was doing, and It took me forever to figure out that I had to make a crafting table. ![]() I love Minecraft. And when I told my friends about it, I told them to only use survival, because creative isn't fun. They still haven't played on Creative

I build the majority of my stuff on creative for the fun of building, but I play on survival mostly. I honestly hate it though when people just have minecraft raped with hacks.

You people are really odd. I first learned about Minecraft from Facebook and I started playing the free version where you get unlimited blocks for about 3 months until I became dissatisfied...HOWEVER before I actually bought the game I had been educated with Let's Plays that I had been watching in my free time. Those taught me the basics such as to build your house on top of a hill, what to do on your first night, what to do with iron and how to build simple structures. And even after I played offline for like 1 month I still didn't really play on any servers since I'm incredibly picky about which ones I go on. I hate servers with infinite players, I hate servers where every person has a different colored text, I hate servers where you're restricted, I hate severs where I have no friends, the list goes on. Graalians and Awesomecraft were the only ones I liked because they were made by my friends on Facebook so I fit right in. I never installed any mods or hacks and I hardly play creative, that's why it's so devastating to see people ruin their first experience from Minecraft. Minecraft is survival...it's supposed to be a little confusing, and it is certainly not about flying around killing cows and pigs with a diamond sword or a piece of string, w/e. I enjoy TNT at times, but not when I see people log in everyday with like thirteen people around them blowing up a big hole of TNT...seriously, that's no ****ing fun. |

response to the OP. you're friends are dip****s. Who cares. As far as 1.0 goes.. your right. its a waste of time. potions and enter dragons are total crap. just look at dragon. it has 4 times more polygons than the closest minecraft model. it's style just doesn't make sense. It sucks. it doesn't fit the minecraft style. People dig creepers because they are super blocky and maintain a basic design. Yet they are still friggin scary! Man... That sound alone... Ender dragons... pff just look at em.feck man wayyyy wrong idea. |

Making a flying dragon with barely any polygons would result in a rigid wierd looking bat thing. The enderdragon is supposed to have the polygons to look right when flying. Look at them flying, it's actually kind of majestic |

They should stay away from this: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/images/c/c1/Beast_Boy.png (Unsupported image host) but continue doing this: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/images/c/c3/Zombie.png (Unsupported image host) The dragon looks like it was made with some CAD maker...it's like having an 8-Bit game such as Zelda except Ganon is three-dimensional, that just wouldn't look right. I mean obviously the mobs are all made in CAD, but the good mobs such as the zombie have perfectly visible pixels and they dont have smooth or rounded edges. |
