How good is my graphics card?
Well, technically it's an inset chip. I have a Intel Q45/Q43 Express chipset. How good is that in terms of gaming?

All intel chips are pretty horrible for gaming and you should stay away from them. In terms of AAA modern games, it is very bad. Try some NVIDIA and AMD cards, if you want to go cheap the Geforce 450 is pretty good, as from experience I can play games like battlefield 3 at high settings pretty fluidly.

Well I can't afford to buy a new graphics card nor was I able to really pick out my PC( my looney parents are under the impression that a $700 pre-built computer is good enough for games)..... I was just curious. But actually, my windows performance rating or whatever for gaming graphics is 6 point something, pretty close to the standard max score. Oddly enough, the general windows aero graphics is only 4.4....

You can get a Geforce 450 for around $80 bucks now, just a little more expensive than your average game. I would recommend saving up for that instead of buying a new game. |

A $700 computer with an integrated Intel GPU? Uh, okay. You're going to want to replace that, your CPU actually doesn't do that much in comparison to your GPU when determining the overall performance (namely fps) of your computer when playing a game. Go for cheap GeForce or Radeon models, they'll suit you well.

How much would your parents be willing to spend on a graphics card? Onboard and gaming do not go together well, unless you're fine with casual games on low settings. If you can get a refund on that PC do that asap, $700 for that is a rip off. |

You don't have a graphics card, your computer runs graphics with your processor. Might run some well optimized games fine on lower settings, but if you try to run more modern games like Crisis, Tera, gw2 etc, you will lag like crazy. My radeon hd 4850 that I got for $60 gives me like 60 fps maxed on most games, best GPU I've ever had. |
