Over the past weekend, Graal City has prospered (perhaps because of the integration of the Gralat System) and is now in need of a mayor.

I am acting as mayor for the next few days until we elect a mayor on Friday. Voting will go in three main stages:

• Candidacy Volunteers
  • Now until Tuesday, May 7
  • Anyone is welcome to volunteer as a candidate for mayor.
• Primary Elections
  • Wednesday, May 7 - Thursday, May 8
  • Elections will be held based on the candidates.
  • The top two candidates will be entered into the final elections.
• Election Day
  • Friday, May 8
  • The mayor of Graal City will be chosen based on the final two candidates.

The mayor will be responsible for ensuring that Graal City is kept clean, pretty, safe, and prosperous. Some immediate issues he or she will need to address are:

• Funding for Graal City treasury
• Meeting place for Graal City government
• Formal boundaries for Graal City

Good luck to all who compete for the crown mayorship. This thread will be kept up to date with info as the election progresses.

Hello fellow Graalians Minecraft players,

As some of you may know, I am running for the Mayor of Graal City. I believe that I would be the best for this posistion because I would make this city prosper and always looking good.
Some of the things that I would be doing upon becoming the mayor would be:

1. Implement a sales tax system. Every shop in the perimeters of Graal City will have a +2 Gralat tax. The money from the taxes will go toward the city to make it even better! The money from the sales taxes shall be deposited to the Graal City P.O. box at the end of every week. Shops must keep track of the amount of sales they make for that week. If a shop does not give their taxes within at least 2 weeks, the shop shall be shut down until payed for again.

2. Establish where the city officially ends.

3. Find a new place to hold all of the upcoming Government-related things in Graal City. I would most likely create a brand-new building for this. However, I would not tap into the Graal City funds, as this is not a mandatory thing to build a new whole new building. I would fund that project myself.

4. If there are any unsold buildings in Graal City at any time, I would sell or hold an auction for them to be able to get more money into the "Treasury." Another way to help add more to the "Treasury," you could donate Gralats to the city. Just drop the amount of gralats you would like to donate into the Graal City P.O. box! Any amount of Gralats could help the city become even better!

5. Add more lights around. I have noticed that there are some spots that are not completely covered in light at night. This can become a problem, since mobs spawn. Nobody likes it when there's a mob in a city... they all try to ruin everything. You could be trying to have a nice chat with a friend on the benches and then, "boom!" a creeper explodes and nearly kills you making it so that you have to run for cover so that you do not die. It's happened to all of us.

6. Something that would be cool to add would be Boxing Arena where you and another player fight to stay in the arena. Whoever falls off would lose the match. It could cost 5 gralats to enter into the fighting arena and 10 gralats to watch the match. This could be another way to earn more money for Graal City.

7. Every two months, Graal City could have a festival to earn more money for the Government. People who would wish to help out the city could donate their time and/or resources to make a new festival each month. Players could purchase a 1)Season Pass (Valid for a total of 6 festivals, one year [costs 300 Gralats]) 2) 3 Festivals Pass [costs 200 Gralats] 3) 1 Festival Pass [costs 100 Gralats].
There would be other things in the festival that would be available for purchase.

8. One of the last things that I would do would be to help hurry up the production of the "Battle Arena." The Battle Arena is something that is always exciting. Who doesn't like watching a good 'ol fight between two individuals?

Sure, why not. Rocket ships are fun. I could build a moon with it, too. Just kidding, that's a waste of Graal City's funds. ;)
