Computer Trouble Running Games
So the great and powerful Psycher has addressed me saying my computer may have a problem. I can't run games like Slenderman on it and can barely run Garry's Mod. Here's some information about it: Model: Acer Aspire 5736Z Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500 @2.30GHz Memory: 4GB RAM System Type: 64-bit Operating System So I know laptops aren't great gaming computers, but Psycher said his runs fine on his laptop and I have better processing speed and about the same memory. I have Norton (even though some of you may call it ****) and have run other anti-malaware programs in the past so I don't think I have a virus. Can my computer not just run games or what? |

Norton is ****. Get rid of it, get something free that's 100x better and your laptop will probably run better for it. Also if you have a laptop it's likely you have integrated graphics which means you'll never get great performance on games. |

Most of the time your GPU is by far the most important for playing games. Since you have intel that is the problem as they don't make powerful chips. Sadly, the vast majority of laptops cannot be upgraded, so you'll most likely need to get a new computer.

My laptop plays Halo CE just fine and plenty of other games. Tired of people saying laptops flat out can't run games when it is simply not true. |

That game is 10 years old, not exactly putting a machine to the test. Why are you getting defensive? People say it because it's true. Here he is, not able to run some games and it's most likely because of the integrated GPU. Most laptops, unless you specifically hunt for a gaming laptop, will have integrated graphics. Integrated graphics are not a good thing, they have just about enough muscle to run the OS with pretty settings and play movies and that's about it. This doesn't only apply to laptops either, many marketed desktops are sold with integrated graphics too. The only difference is you can put in a new GPU in a desktop so the problem isn't that severe. |

Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500 @2.30GHz Your CPU is a pentium grade, I'd recommend going up to at least a Core CPU if you're staying Intel. (Probably a Core i3 or above) |

It's definitely your GPU. You can run games like Garry's Mod and TF2 fine because they're not really GPU power-hungry. See if your laptop can be upgraded (most likely not, sadly) with a new GPU. If not, you may have to buy a new computer for newer games.
