Used games not allowed on the next Xbox?
Articles on IGN and Kotaku are reporting that Microsoft will somehow prevent used games from being played on the next Xbox. It hasn't been revealed how they are going to do this but speculated that when you buy a game it will be linked to your gamertag and only your tag signed in will be able to play it. This is similar to how digitally purchasing on PC works, you just get a keycode and only you can play it on your PC basically. You can also see how this would anger people who rely on cheap games or people who borrow games from friends and family. However when you buy new games the money goes to the publisher and developers who made the game. When you buy used games ,from Gamestop for example, 100% of your money goes to Gamestop or the store selling the game. Would you support the people who made your game or a greedy corporation? I almost always buy my games new so this doesn't really affect me, but I can see why some people wouldn't like this at all. Remember this is just a rumor but it's still a strong possibility some anti-used games measure will be taken with the next Xbox. Thoughts? |

They'd be digging themselves in a hole. Reportedly Sony is going to do the same thing. Then when Nintendo outsells them all again next generation they'll blame casual gamers instead of themselves.

Probably. I'm not too concerned about the next gen consoles yet. I plan on staying with my 360 for at least another year. Still have GTA 5 and all the new games in spring to look forward to before the next consoles will (most likely) be revealed at E3. |

This! I was playing borderlands 2 during a storm and my internet went out for a few hours, and so did my game. Its so ridiculous. I'm glad Ubisoft got rid of their DRM, but EA seems to be shoving it everywhere (especially with origin). I hate how they made Battlefield 3 integrated inside your web browser.

Heard Sony is going a similar route. I personally like buying my games from gamestop lol. With the current economy, people need jobs, and if console companies pursue this idea, shops such as gamestop will take a hit. Never went to gamestop to buy a new game, only used lol.

Used games are only like 5 bucks cheaper so I never saw the point in buying them. I only buy old games that can only be found used at gamestop. And I don't like buying them online because I can't see the condition the disc is in. |

I get instore credit whenever I buy from gamestop plus a subscription to game informer. I lied, I bought Halo 4 new from gamestop lol. I also like turning in my used games that I never pay for anymore for some cash.

In Houston we have a retain chain called Gamesplus. They sell used games at a really cheap price (usually $10-$20 cheaper depending on how old it is). A few years ago I got a used copy of Fallout 3 for 2$.Also, they have a large variety of SNES/N64/Genisis cartridges. Its really awesome, and their employees are really nice.
