I suggest learning an other language first, because there are way more JavaScript and Python Tuts than GS2. Log to Codeacadamy.com. I learned Python first, which helped me understand variables and strings and such. Then it was easy to transfer to GS2.

Here's Twinny's guide to Gs2 : http://gs2.graalstudios.com/?page=start This tutorial helped me the most when I attempted becoming a scripter. |

I also suggest going backwards and learning gs1 first. Learn the basics of gs1 there are so many tutorials. Then after you get familiar with the terminology while being able to test in graaleditor you can make the transition into gs2. It will help being able to test most of your scripts in a graal level offline

Out of all the languages mentioned, GS2 is as easy as it gets.... To learn GS1 will help you for sure but it's not easier... nor is it as clean and as friendly.

GS1 is a lot different than GS2. It's better that you start off with having some background knowledge of how to program in other languages. Knowing the basics of programming will definitely help you. PHP is really great: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PHP Also Java: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(p...ming_language) But if you'd like to just jump into GraalScript (Which I don't recommend) you should definitely check out FP4's scripting guide: http://public.zodiacdev.com/index.php?title=Fowlplay4. Though, you will need NPC-Server access on a Graal Server. Also if you need any help with GraalScript, there are some great examples on the Official GraalOnline forums: http://forums.graal2001.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8 |

I disagree with most of you, I'm sorry to say. GS2 is definitely as easy as it is going to get in terms of scripting. All the scripting guides for it can be found with a bit of hoking around in one place (the official forums), and examples to learn off - which in my opinion is the best way to learn - can be found on the forum among the many scripts supplied, whereas other languages are subject to different conventions and people have different opinions on how the code should be written and blah, blah, blah... Tutorials for these other languages are going to be a lot harder to comprehend for someone just starting out in my opinion, and I say this from experience. For you Digzy, I recommend just jumping straight in and messing about with the GS2 code that you can find. Try to start with as simple a script as you can, and with a bit of messing about and some searching around on the Graal wiki, you should be able to get it in no time at all. Take it from me, I started out by just diving straight into the code and not giving a thought to any documents telling me how to do it, and now I can write C++, Java, HTML and Javascript. Do have a look at all the different tutorial links posted above by the other users, but don't get so worked up trying to learn all the reasons why this bit of code should be here and why that is and when it's bad and all the other crap, just leech off other people's scripts and learn from them by replicating and modifying them. Through a bit of time and effort, you'll be writing your own scripts without the need to reference anything. Here's something to get you started off in your adventures. This is as basic as it's going to get, so mess with this and see what you can do (that is, if you know where to put the GS2 code. There should be some tutorial somewhere on the forum that shows you how. I think Emera did one?): PHP Code:

People ignore me and listen to others who parrot me. I don't want to help anymore, I don't want to like you people anymore. http://shirtoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/good-day.jpg (Unsupported image host) |

I read all the posts, thanks for all the help, I just have one question I heard you can make a graal reborn server for free or whatever? I don't really care it it's not much of a server would you be able to practice gs2 on it?
