Legalization of Marijuana
Legalization of Marijuana ![]() Hello my fellow Graalians. I know this topic is taboo to most of you are below the legal smoking age, for cigars and cigarettes is 18. But, what are your views on the legalization of marijuana? I for one support the matter as national legalization approaches. I live in a neighborhood of the "rebel" college types, and they make use of the drug constantly I support the legalization of marijuana and the end of herb prohibition because I believe it is less harmful then alcohol. Although, like alcohol, it impairs motor skills, but it deals with depression and anxiety, and other medical conditions such as glaucoma and various types of cancer after chemotherapy. Alcohol does not have any use except its current status of being abused. Also, around the country, the crime rate will go down, most felonies are drug related, so if we decriminalize this drug nationally and federally, dealers won't have anything to smuggle anymore, and smoking "pot" will be not stereotyped as it is now. Users of the drug are stereotyped as the kids in college that slack in school, and all they care about is toking, eating and being lazy. It is a fact that Marijuana increases work ethic, because of the happy feeling it leaves. Marijuana is labeled as an anti depressant. I did my research about this and read you would have to smoke around 15,000 "joints" or marijuana in rolling paper, in 20 minutes to overdose. It is possible but very unlikely to overdoes on this drug. So that's my view on it. I hope I have changed some peoples views. Thank you! and I would love to hear your opinions, arguments and supportment!

I think the 20's are an example why it should be legal.

I support the legalization of marijuana and still think most of your points are ridiculous.

I think this topic is taboo, since most players are of such a young age. However, I'll still put in my two cents. There is nothing wrong with Marijuana, as a plant. I think your argument about abuse is wrong. Anyone can abuse and get addicted to anything, given the right circumstances. Even I had a relationship with marijuana. The social circumstances I found myself in were negative. For me, my addictive "use" was based on escaping reality. My grades slipped, I started staying up past 3am reasons of the culture, and just didn't care about anything. Especially the things that mattered. Now, after saying that, I must say that prohibition is wrong. I believe that the government chooses to keep it illegal because it is easy to grow. You don't see people growing tobacco in their houses. They cannot tax what isn't being sold. So, if it was legalized, you would have a federal profit and strong army of underground growers that would "abuse" the terms of the law. Even if the government sells plants with no seeds, plants still exist out there under all of our noses. Now, the positive arguments are good, but I think the majority of people would simply abuse marijuana for the sake of ability. For at least a few years. It still destroys brain cells, has similar tar effects to smoking cigarettes, and will be abused. However, people have a right to choose what natural substances they want to use. And I agree, alcohol is ten times worse than marijuana. But that doesn't mean that marijuana should be welcomed with open arms. It's still detrimental to the young and immature of our society. |

It's just another type of cigarette to me and should be treated as such. I think if it gets legalized in US it will help stop the flow of money currently going to extremely violent drug cartels in Mexico (not to mention all the shady dealers currently selling it), and that countries that are "in bed" with the USA will get to be more lax about it and even legalize it as well. Hopefully the feds will back off of Washington and Colorado and let the effects of legalization speak for itself. |

I don't really care if it's legalised or not. I just hope they put restrictions on its use in public, I don't want to be inhaling someone else's fumes unwillingly. I have the same view on cigarettes too.

It has been proven that if you don't smoke it hardcore, it can have positive affects, so yes I agree.

Quick lesson: Cigarettes have cyanide in them. Cyanide can be used in pill form, you bite into it and it kills you. |
