The Weakness of Online Applications.
Hello! This is a little moan of mine which highlights points that have been raised by many already, but is as relevant as ever now. Many have established that online applications for responsible positions are too risky to put out there, because it is all to easy to lie. So forth I lead this thread onto the topic of a player being hired as a GP to the iClassic. There has been extended history of her that I know of and it makes her all the better example. I have known her for a while and in doing so I have picked up on how she fakes her age to others. Plus she regularly insults others, care-freely swearing and acting immaturely. This is not a witch hunt nor an act of jealousy or bitterness, just showing how badly the current system is. Appear mature in one application and everything beforehand is forgotten? Well I hope this isnt the answer for hiring those that want to staff classic. I gather that Era hire their PRs on recommendation and reputation which is a good alternative, but also carries its flaws. It isnt my place to officially declare it, but I ask you- Are we in need of a new hiring system? note : please do not off topic and aimlessly search and name who I have written this thread about, it is not relevant. I have numerous screenshots of proof, which I have chosen not to share, as that would be an example of taking this question the wrong. |

The applications are a front. Pay no mind.

Haha We do suggest people on Era- I don't like the idea of running through applications. We did it a few times before and was tedious and didn't have much of a positive turn out. |

Yeah there are pros and cons to the recommendation system. The thing is there could be someone that would make for an amazing PR, but they would never get hired because they are not friends with a PR. Same goes the other way, several staff recommend a friend, and bad things happen. The problem with applications though is so many people apply and it is difficult to read through all of them especially when many of them are terrible. i think there should be an automated application in game that filters out bad applications, and then those who make it in the application get personally interviewed For example you can apply in game if you have more than say 200 hours, and you have to answer what you would do in multiple scenarios, meanwhile pms and chat are disabled for you. perhaps multiple choice. also maybe general questions like age and do you have a pc account and all that as well. This way you don't have to read through hundreds of terrible apps, but can just read the good ones. |

I'd imagine it'd also be possible to construct something similar for the idevice servers if they so choose. Perhaps an in-game script for the various team administrators that would send messages with the subject line "Gfx App" to the manager as well as the head of the team that's being applied for. Of course it doesn't have to be in message format (could be just a notification to the team head) but either way it would help filter the applications for the staff team which saves time compared to sending all the applications to one email and having to sort through all of them by hand. |

Multiple choice? Nah, having to think and write out your answer is better. |

Yeah, just an extra note. The application/interview system has found many responsible staff members, just there are too many exceptions.
