Maybe you can buy a GPS for your car and only then you can tap the map and arrows will appear on the gmap guiding you to the place you tapped.

Ooh yah I like that idea. It'd be nice for car missions or when your being nice and giving people rides.

Good idea, but the arrow would be kinda obnoxious.
Maybe instead, something like this?

Maybe a tab on the bottom, with an arrow that moves kinda like a compass? it would give a use for the #u, #d, #l, #r arrows.
And a target that hides the tab once you no longer need it

Good idea! it can help players from looking at their maps in the middle of the streets and getting killed when they don't have a revive.
