Struggling with acne? I'm here to help
Well, basically as the title says: I'm helping with your guy's acne problems. I'm 15 and I have mild-moderate acne. I got it when I was about 13. It was terrible going into my ninth grade year of high school. I had tried tons of stuff: Oxy, proactive, cetaphil (actually works for a while). That's when I read something online that was really easy and cheap to do! That is, put a towel over your pillow overnight. It may seem odd, but you will notice a visible difference when you do so. That's just an easy thing you can do to help with your acne. If you're really wanting to get rid of it, you're going to have to make some life changes. For starters, no matter where you live: exercise! It's not only good for your body, you'll be constantly working and relieving stress. Another thing is: watch your diet! Those chips and mountain dew may seem good now, but when you're consuming that much sugar it really takes a toll on your body and face. Replace the chips with some crackers, replace the dew with some water! Also, avoid sugary stuff! I can't stress how important that is. You aren't going to get anywhere if you was your face everynight then go eat a snickers bar. Something to not do is: don't overwash your face. That's just going to irritate it and make it dry and peeling. Less is more. Also, watch how many showers you take. It not only makes your skin oily if you take four showers a day, it makes your hair oily, too. Something that will also help with your skin is just washing it before you go to bed. It's as easy as that. Nothing more to it than just putting some soap on a rag and washing your face. Now on to the treatments you can do: -A small little bit of toothpaste on your pimple before you go to bed. -Epiduo. This is what my dermatologist recommended me with and it works great! I am noticing visible differences after two weeks. My face has never been this clear before. It does cost a pretty penny if you don't have insurance -Cetaphil. This is just your general face wash you use before you go to bed. It works wonders if you haven't done anything else to treat your acne. Makes your face a lot less oily. -Soap and water. This is just simple and tends to work depending on your skin type. -Tetracycline. This is a daily antibiotic that you take for a few months. If you're really serious about it and you want to get rid of your acne this is one of the good things to use. It's not an overnight cure, no. But in the long-run it will definitely help. I have been taking it for about a month and I have absolutely no acne on my chest plus my face is much more clear right now. Update 5/19/13 I got this stuff called Aqua Lime soap. My friend got it from a hotel in Las Vegas and this stuff does absolute wonders for me. I have used it for about two days now and I am already starting to notice a giant difference in my acne. Lime works by corroding the top layer of your skin off. I know that that may sound scary but it doesn't effect you in a negative way at all. It makes your face look absolutely wonderful. You will actually start to notice some improvement right after you even put it on your face! It's great. I'm not sure where you can buy it online, but I do think that you can call them up and ask them for some. There telephone number is 1(888)391-3991 and if you ask for some, they may send it to you. I am not sure though. Another perk of it is that it smells absolutely wonderful. If the company doesn't happen to sell lime soap or give it away then one thing that you can do is just get some lemon juice or some lime juice. They are both very citrusy and they will both work very well. What you do with that is you put some on the tip of a cotton swab and you wipe it all over your face and then let it sit there for about 10-15 minutes. Then rinse it off with cold water. If you don't feel like putting it on your face then you mix the lime juice with cold water and drink it everyday. Either or will work. So, if you have any questions, leave me a comment and I'll reply to it by the morning. Thanks, everyone! I will post the progress on my face tomorrow! If you have severe acne I would recommend talking to your local dermatolgist to see what's right for you! EDIT: added tetracycline. Seriously, check it out. EDIT: added lime soap Thanks, Chris.

Same, I can tend to get some acne here and there. It can be bad if left unattended for a while. Proactiv works for me fine, I never heard of the towel trick though. May try it sometime.

I just don't eat much fast food. I eat a heck of a lot of junk food (I have quite the sweet tooth) though, so I have a couple, but generally only between 2 and 5

Getting a haircut helps too. I used to have pretty long hair and I had crazy acne on my forehead.

I can't count my acne because I can't distinguish the individual bumps. Its more of a rash encompassing the sides of my face and my chin. I've tried everything. I stopped eating fast food, I run 2-3 miles a day, I've been to a dermatologist, I washed my face with soap every night and used Proactive, Clearasil, (and EVERY other major brand of acne cream + wipes), I also used all the hardcore medical brands, cetaphil, Veltin, duac tropical jel, Epiduo, etc. Nothing works. Heck, my acne rash has gotten larger even though I'm 18 and pretty much out of puberty. Hopefully it will go away some time in my 20's when my hormones and such die down.

I'm 25 and still get acne. It's not as much as before. I did a lot of sports and running around in high school so naturally I was prone to face craters and cysts. My back was absolutely horrible because I was in drumline (harness). Going to the gym almost every day keeps it lingering. I stopped eating sweets, 90% meat decrease, and stopped the greasy oily food and wash my face every day... Doing much better. Will never have perfect skin though. Cetephil is great when you're on accutane... I did that **** too for my back. Helped loads. |
