My DS Lite stopped working this week. I now want a 3DS, but I'm worried that it's too old because they came out in 2011. I wanna play my DS Lite games on it and buy 3DS Pokemon games. Is the 3DS outdated now? Should I buy one now or wait for the next DS?  

Nah, get one if you like Nintendo games.

Get the "New 3DS."  

if you want to play the Pokemon games on it, then why would it be a waste?  

If you don't really care about the design and 3D effects and just want to play 3DS and DS Pokemon games, then get a 2DS for $40 or $70 cheaper than a 3DS

But it can fit in your bag, or maybe in your shorts' pockets. Some of my shorts' pockets are actually big enough to fit a 2DS.

I had gotten my 3DS in 2014 and had alot of fun and an advantage is that because its a few years old most friends have it.  

2ds if you play smash and get salty easily and slam it on the ground.
Other than that, the 3ds is better in everyway.  

New 3ds is coming to North America  

I still have the 3DS it's nice and you can still play the updated games via Nintendo Store and such.
