Another "Giant Blob"-esque baddy
So here's what I'm thinking: Another "boss" type enemy much like the Giant Blob. I'm thinking a good place for it to spawn would be snowtown. Perhaps a large Yeti or some kind of snow monster. Now here's what I'm thinking to differentiate it from the blob: It would still drop a "spoils" item for everyone that attacks it, and said spoils would still have a small chance of containing a rare item (a few hats, maybe a rare husky mount, maybe a mini-yeti pet), but instead of containing gralats the majority of the time, the spoils would contain a "token" of sorts (though, for it to make more sense, it would probably be something like a yeti tooth, or something). A new shop would be added to snowtown containing hats (and maybe even some other goodies) that can be purchased with said tokens (again, to give it meaning, it would be a shop owned by, say, a yeti hunter that collects yeti teeth and is willing to trade hats/items for them). It would function similar to the old token shop or the old honour shop. Different hats/items would cost different amounts of tokens. Maybe there'd be a super awesome mount that costs 100 tokens. This Yeti would have a similar spawn rate as the giant blob, but with more randomness, and it wouldn't spawn quite as often (I'd say every 4-5 hours on average). Plus there would be no 12 hour limit on receiving spoils. As long as you get a hit in, you get spoils. And the spoils will contain a token 100% of the time. In the event that you get a rare drop, it would be in addition to the token. I'm also thinking that maybe you'd have a 10-15% chance of receiving 2 tokens. The yeti would move around in the same sort of way the blob moves around (obviously not bouncing though), and it would have a basic attack that does 1 full heart damage (to one person at a time) an ice attack that hits everyone in immediate range (maybe even has a chance to freeze you in a block of ice for 5 seconds?), and how about a knockback attack that tosses away everyone in immediate range (maybe with a cap of 10 people), this would help give people who aren't in immediate range a chance to get a sword attack in. And yes, like the giant blob, it would be immune to bombs and arrows. So that's my idea. Thoughts? Edit - If it's too long for you, at least just read the first 2 paragraphs. |

I like this idea but I can see all the tryhard pkers complaining because it would create another mob of people and according to these people mob pking is boosting.

I like it better than the blob idea. But instead of a chance of getting a hat or rare mount or even a pet yeti. It should be only tooth's because then people would be getting a mount faster, and that wouldn't be fair.

Here are my ideas regarding the cool down etc.: Id like for this to be somewhat of a guild event. Any guild can enter at anytime, but there has to be Atleast 5-10 people in queue to fight the yeti. Each individual would only be able to receive the spoils every 6-12 hours but they can still queue up to help other guilds. Once the guild finished the boss the guild cannot enter again for 3-6 hours. You can only receive spoils if identified. These are my thoughts on the yeti's base attacks. 1: Smash: Uses both fists to hit the ground doing 0.5-2.0 damage. 2: Snowstorm: Slowly ticks away 0.5 and slows down your movements because it is so cold. If you were to die you'd have to run back up some ways, and if all your guild mates were to die then the yeti's health would reset. so you have to be very strategic on and about who does what. |

too bad classic doesnt have a way to check stats, so all the real boosters could get exposed.

Please. I don't want some 0.1% of getting a rare item.

The reason I don't like the giant blob boss is because it's too crowded and literally requires no knowledge or skill to participate in. This is all good and well for new players, but I'm not a fan of it. It would be cool if they made a boss area (using your yeti idea), where you can actually invited 5 friends to fight it with you in a private/instanced environment.

and nobody pks mod now because it's so goddamn crowded, it's not fun anymore. But would be cool if bosses could take team work because I get thrown all over the place 0.0 @ the boosting jokes lel, mob PK now and then yeah it's fun but if it's EVERYDAY it devalues the PK stat I used to aim for 3k-4k at mod and now random noobs get it from mobs tf (if anyone remembers the Aussie Kevin in early 2012 he mob pked with arrows and got reset @ 100K) + think of mob PK like this, spar boosting, easy wins, no skill > mob PK, easy/quick kills, no skill, when there's others actually investing time earning kills with skill. It just annoys me how I got better at Pking and aiming to get more per hour aiming for 300/h and then I realise someone else is getting more than that sword spamming elsewhere. |

How about a diminishing returns for PKing the same person multiple times? Like, if you kill someone twice, you won't get credit for killing them again over the next 3 minutes (give or take)? That would stop players from "boosting" from most mob PKing. But as far as getting PKs from the giant blob, who cares? It doesn't spawn that often. If some people want to take advantage and rake in some PKs, that's just being smart. The fact that some people have a problem with it is a joke. I mean, seriously? In regard to the people wanting the yeti to be a "guild boss" of sorts, that's not what I was going for. Something like that definitely could be implemented, but this isn't what I intended for this particular enemy. But I am starting to think that it shouldn't have any rare drops, and solely drop tokens, with a small chance of dropping 2. This means people won't have to rely on luck. The more you participate in killing it, the more tokens the get, the better items you eventually get to purchase. However, I still think there should be one incredibly rare possible drop, just so you can have that moment of anticipation when you open the spoils. Now, back to the "PK boosting". If people really think that's a problem, they could turn PK off in the area it spawns (though still no walking through eachother). However, I don't think it's necessary. |

I don't have a problem with the blob, I was more aiming @ the mob PK boosting jokes. I was talking about the under graal city riot that happens everyday. But yeah whatever you wanna call it bosses I guess would be cool to have a boss lurking in the railroad caves somewhere hidden deep inside giving an adventure aspect to it idk.
