Try Not Enough Items, by Chickenbones. I think it requires Forge, but it can show recipes for non-Op users, and it can spawn in items like TMI.

Forge has Industrial Craft 2, Redpower 2, Buildcraft, Aether and loads of other really amazing mods!

Yeah I avoided NEI due to forge.
If the server ever were to get RedPower2, then a Forge Client would be mandated.

But also as it stands, SmartMoving and Forge aren't seeing eye to eye. Control Configs for SmartMoving don't load or save with Forge at the moment.

Smart moving is simply something the game should have but the devs were too lazy to do, animations and different movements.

How is Forge bad? Forge gives you compatibilities between mods made by other authors... Without Forge, most of the items from buildcraft and industrialcraft wouldn't create what you want due to a lack of compatibility. Forge doesn't even change how you play your game, it does completely nothing besides compatibility and some other nifty features so why not get it.

And plus, people can use Modloader mods with MCForge since forge has a Forge Modloader
(FML for short, lol).

When i try to use this, it crashes because of smartmoving. it says something like ".net.move.minecraft.SmartMovingPlayerBase" can not register with the id "Smart Moving" because ".net.move.minecraft.SmartMovingPlayerBase" already uses that id.
