nah gonna pass on this game, my biggest problem with the New Order and what i saw from trailers is bad character designs, and lack of bad guy development and the typical nazi cop out instead of well written and ironed out factions.
Bad character designs, something Bethesda exceeds at, literally all the characters are sterotypical, and it shows in the new trailers as well. There was just a checkbox of traits a character needed to have. Strong america **** ya guy? check. Sassy black chick with an afro? check. Crazy German scientists? check. it goes on and on.
Then theres lack of bad guy development. Since this is nazis we're talking about and since the nazis did a ton of experiments and pushed technological boundaries at the time often (most of the time failed), it bugs me how Bethesda doesn't bother to add in stuff like digging through files of officers to figure out about top secret projects or weapons development programs and all that good nazi experimental stuff.
Then theres the second part that annoys the hell outta me, and thats reinforcing the idea on why they are the bad guys every 2 seconds. In new order it was always either what you expect to hear like muh inhumane treatment of prisoners, muh genocide in africa, muh atomic bombs, muh targeting civilians, muh racism, and my favorite one MUH NAZIS, etc every goddamn time. We get it, they're the bad guys, stop bugging me on why i should not like them.
>but ghetto wolfenstien is a shooter at heart
Its a story driven shooter, a bad story makes a story driven shooter a lot different from player to player. While combat is good. I can't get into the setting the game has created so why bother when theres DOOM that does combat better and just tosses you into a guy whooping demons who are trying to kill you.

Eh gotta disagree with you, probably more on a personal basis than anything. Just finished the game and think that the story was pretty well done for the most part. I don't have a whole lot to say on the bad guy front, however I think some of the stereotypes aren't as out of hand as the trailer makes them out to be (besides sassy black woman, I hated just about every cutscene with Grace.)
For the other characters though...
I think overall the story gets a lot better the second time you play it through as you are able to admire a lot more of the little intricacies.
