If possible, you should make two. One in pristine condition, then another one where the battle damage and scratches are set into the bondo a little bit. (Like take a screw driver and make gouges in it) Would have more depth and prolly look alot better than just paint imo.

Oh sorry if I didn't make it clear that the bondo process would also include the battle damage. As far as paint I meant like the layers of paint over metal, a bit of the skid and peeling texture. But two runs would be a fun idea if I have time.
