For head´s or bodie´s it´s ok. But I agree that for shield´s it´s stupid. But I think they won´t change it because this is better for the script to sell them again if you are the owner. Else it would be way more complicated to sell them again or staff would have to do it which would get them more busy and not having time for anything else.
