Apprenticeships can be great but if you suddenly decide you don't like what you're doing then it's difficult to switch to something else as you have been trained for that specific job. College would definitely open up a lot more doors, it sounds like it would be the longer option but in my opinion it's a much safer one.

What Crono said doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think it's definitely worth trying out the apprenticeship and seeing if you enjoy it, if not you can always try college instead.
