The FBI was suppose to destroy them, the Department of Justice told them to do so, but because they are based patriots they didn't
They've been investigating the Clinton Foundation for a long time, before any of this e-mail stuff occurred, the Department of Justice is trying to handicap them in the investigation but the FBI doesn't care and there's a lot of tension between the two right now
Apparently they already have a ton of evidence to take her to trial for corruption charges, but the Department of Justice is siding with Hillary and even tipped her off prior to the investigation being announced which puts this whole situation at a dead-end because only the Department of Justice can prosecute her which they don't want to do

Oh I knew the FBI made immunity deals which included them destroying certain devices, but I thought that the Clinton people also destroyed some devices on their own? Too much going on. I don't even know what the details are.
Comey can easily take down Hillary Clinton and the DOJ, though, because Loretta Lynch was caught meeting with Bill Clinton which basically gives her no authority over the case, and Comey could publicly recommend charges.
