I'm no tech wizard on this stuff, but if each spar match area was an individual instance ( total 4 instances) would that only mean two people are loading into the level? Then this would drastically reduce lag from the strain on the server so you could more easily differentiate someones "baseline" delay and if they were excessively skipping around?
Please someone help me out with the technical stuff

Instances would have less lag than a room with 20 players in theory. But the problem is that it takes even more effort from the server to handle all these instances which results graal getting even laggier in general
