Why wait until Xmas?
Why don't you ask your family to give you your Xmas irl presents right away?
Why wait? Well because that way people have a whole year to work on their hat/furniture/items. Which means that others must have done the same thing. The longer the wait, the better the stuff must be if you want it to get in. If we simply do something like oh let's make a shop with player stuff that we can restock occasionally, the quality will drop and the quantity will go boom.
If you wait one year for stuff, you can expect to get quality.
After all, what we're always asking is not quantity, but quality.
