Someone made an accurate observation in the "Gralats on HUD" update that it may have been to reduce lag. Every time you open your profile it has to send ALL of the data in your entire profile/menu at once, hence why it was made to see gralats easier at a glance and not have to go through your profile. Sending so much data constantly was apparently contributing quite a lot of unneeded bandwidth, and we're trying, one step at a time, to reduce that. It may not seem like a lot but when there's 3000 players on, and 1000 of them are all trying to open their profile at once to do something stupid like see their gralats or change their colors it adds up. Quick-access menu, gralats on HUD, color changing system... they're all small, necessary steps in the right direction to trying to reduce some of the overhead.
