Only thing I dislike is being confined to Graal City, but obviously the overworld will expand as the story is further developed and implemented.

Work on the other sections of the overworld are pretty much solely being worked on by Racil. He's got quite a bit done with Swamp Town and the Destiny area.

I did find the one book refering to some volcanic mountain and some race I've never heard of called the Cid, so I guess that is something I can look foward to.

Big City Volcano, probably. And, the "Cid" you referenced is probably Zorbi Cid, the title for the lead Zorbi scientist.
The books don't really hint at any of our future plans, because they're typically recycled from the levels we replace.
