Comparison given that iClassic developers are volunteering, as I would assume:
RuneScape Development on a QUEST released December 14, 2015:- Concepted by a PLAYER
- Developers had to communicate with said PLAYER and agree on what to add and what not to add
- Story mapped out
- Legal document work
- Concept art of update
- 3D rendering of NPCs
- Scripting of everything
- Re-creating the island
- Writing the story script
- Playtesting
- Debugging
- Announcement of upcoming quest
- Releasing the quest
- Optimization and further bug testing based on player experience and feedback
- PAYCHECKS AND BUDGETS
iClassic (probable) development of the Library Nexus- Concept and agreement with developers and Unixmad
- Making of GFX
- Creating the levels
- Scripting
- Making furniture and hats
- Ensuring copyright is not an issue
- One week deadline (assumed from rufus' statement)
- Real world issues of developers
- NPC dialogue
- No budget
- Time
Development is NOT as easy as it seems. It is definitely NOT fast when the work is VOLUNTARY and not full-time.
Also note that the development of the RuneScape quest was not started for over 2 months due to the legal documents and concept needed to start.
