Well, your concept of "giving away things for free" and mine are very different... If you guys really see an issue in throwing phased-out, public hat shop hats into a pool of seasonal rewards, then I think you're always going to be overworked and pooped on by the community when it comes to these events.

In what ways are they different? The chance of the getting them being low or not is irrelevant. The bottom line is that they would still get them and they would still be free, even if it was only a few people that got them. People that paid 2-8k on them last year would feel cheated and would rather take their chances trying to get them for free rather than buying them.
Making a few new things every year for the event isn't that big of a deal. It's when everyone expects unrealistic quantities and are disappointed when they get most of the prizes on the first day after whining about how they haven't gotten all the prizes yet not even
half a day after the event was released. It's ridiculous.
They'll complain less than they are right now... I can pretty much guarantee that. These people will always take reused and recolored hats over nothing.

I completely disagree with that. They would probably complain just as much if not more. And they aren't getting "nothing". There is a good amount of items being given right now, only people were complaining because they weren't getting them fast enough. So we raise the chances of getting things and everyone starts complaining that they aren't getting enough. If we recycle old hats people will start complaining about that. There's
always something.
