Lol thinks 3100 players is a lot, any more than 4000 and it's done, this game was put since 2009 and not even including the early versions.

3100 is a tremendous amount of people to be logging on to one single server. Especially considering this:

It has nothing to do with your device, but with cutting down on lag on the server.
There's a reason the server grinds to a halt when there are new releases: the server doesn't like it when there are a lot of players together in one area. According to Stefan, each player in the same area(aka if you can see them) creates an exponential amount of data to be sent as it transfers the data between all the the players.
I don't like it, but until this "large groups = lag" thing is fixed, it's just how things will be. Sadly I doubt it will ever be fixed.

I realize the above quote is a bit out of context, as it was a reply to complaints about the unusually high server lag directly following the release of Destiny, but without proper instancing of the servers or improvement of the efficiency in coding to prevent phenomena like the lag created by high volumes of players, then 3000-4000 players is always going to lead to a less than optimal game experience, and people who compete on this game will continue to complain about it.
I seriously doubt most multiplayer online games hold 3000+ people on one server, because it's just not realistic (especially on graal, considering the quote above)
