I believe some one read this thread and went through altering the issues that were brought up. We got bugs now, after not having them, as well.
That being said, the vases in house do not seem to be dropping hearts very often at all (see pic).
And neither do the ones in the nightclub, so I'm assuming the ones all over the map are the same as the housing ones... and not actually dropping hearts 'every time.'
