First thing I did when seeing it on the frontpage was check the playercount, and yeah:
I've used Reddit numerous times to get exposure to several services, websites, etc., and the effect has always been the same: it's a good day of feel-good attention, and then almost nothing more.
Nonetheless, what this does further prove is how careless management really is. There are dozens of opportunities in those comments, and not a single one will be looked into. The community has done everything imaginable for this game in the past 17 years, but the management is just pathetic. I'm not trying to sound like a downer, but this is definitely proof of it. Players and developers are constantly picking up the slack that Unixmad has left for us, and there's never anything to show for it.
I wouldn't call this a revival, but I would say GJ to whoever made the post. We shouldn't have to be doing this type of thing. If they had any grasp of their business, they'd be waking up every day and doing things like this, starting small-scale advertising campaigns, and looking into other ways on how they can grow their most popular game. I'd like to see what a day at their office actually consists of.
