You apparently need both versions to get him, but they didn't elaborate much, so I'm unsure.

Its suggested by recent tweets that you just get him for free by having both versions, and if you don't then you can just pay a standard DLC fee (I have a feeling there might be a DLC pack like with Mario Kart 8)

The biggest problem for me is finding 7 people who all want to play smash bros :X
