I really, really liked season 3. Best season of Korra by far. Almost near Avatar: The last airbender levels in my opinion, the only thing holding it back is the rushed pace it has due to only having 13 episodes in a season (Instead of ATLA's 24). The storytelling, the writing, the art, everything was a huge step up from book 2 (The only part of Book 2 I really liked was the wan episodes).
I can't believe season 4 is starting October 3rd, that's way too soon! Like Dusty said, its just a continued extension of their ****ty marketing for the series, and one of the reasons its ratings fell through the roof. Since they are treating the show so horribly, I highly expect this to be the last season in the entire avatar series. Hopefully its even better than the great book 3, if it can pull it off I'd say these last two seasons are on par with the original avatar show!
I'd say the show has dramatically gotten better now. Book 2 mainly was bad because the original season was written as a quick, one off mini series. They had no idea there were going to be more, but when Nick ordered it they had to scramble something together out of a concluded storyline which made for a very awkward and clunky transition. Book 3 doesn't have those problems.

I agree with all of your points Pimpsy! Season 1 of korra wasn't that bad tbh, but it wasn't too exciting either. It was a little too love triangle appealing to teenage girls, but I digress. The whole Amon "you can't kill an idea" concept was on par.
Season 2 was the worst season of Avatar history. Why? There was lots of fan service, (fan service doesn't have to mean sexual). The fan service was definitely not a problem, such as when
it was a deep moment.
It sucked because the plot was too intense and the final battle sucked. It was making stuff up as it was going, and the plot was rushed towards the end. The random
was the dumbest thing I ever saw on this show.
Season 3 was great. I loved the new sub-bending group and the battles were pretty cool.
