The sniper made you crouch (which made you invisible on everyone's radar) and let you move around with the gun itself. In other words, you could hide off the map entirely and still shoot people due to it only firing where the pointer is. Like an instant mortar without the explosion. In terms of iOS, think of just tapping on someone and you do damage, except it was 1/2 their health per shot.
