Debating actual development(how it works) and being a lack of development is two different things. Personally I think the quote that you used shows a good reason why this "debate" was good for the community.
People complain about lack of content, then staff complain about players complaining, so it just goes in circles.
Hopefully people have been reading this thread and now have a better understanding as to why content cant be produced as fast as they want. Lack of talent, roadblocks to working on classic, management not approving projects, dusty's quote and so on. For the most part I feel this thread has been productive with the exception of those 2 noobs that keep arguing.
