Use pcpartpicker.com when putting together a rig. It is stupid easy to use.

Has a compatibility checker to keep you from buying parts that don't work together.
Has a combo finder that can find deals for the parts you are already looking into buying. IE your video card and your ram are in a combo at newegg. Out of stock... but still.
Saves system builds for comparison and tweaking later on.
