People are still sparring. How is it dead?
I'm the best.

you're thinking way too logically and need to approach the situation more narrowly and with more bias and angst
currently, many inactive sparrers have adopted this "sparring is dead" motto in response to one or more of (mainly) the following:
- they don't enjoy sparring anymore and/or aren't as good as it as they once were
- they see many players who live outside of the US that delay and don't enjoy sparring against them
- they can't reach positions in a leaderboard that make them feel accomplished
collectively, they ********** together and refuse to spar and instead sit around the Battle Arena chatting about the good' ol days, how sparring was so amazing at one point in time, how no one left has skill, how they were true and unmatched champions of Graal (yeah, it's embarrassing)
these are the same players who don't spar for fun, they spar to prove things
they spar to feel socially accepted and reputable within the community, you know, because sparrers are so cool to be around and have such great personalities (yes)
so, with this handful of past sparrers **********ing and refusing to spar, they now treat anyone who currently spars as if they "aren't on their level" or something of that nature
"sparring is dead" to them because they don't want to do it and can't accept that other people do it because they enjoy it
