Good first party games can only take a console so far, they need third party developers to become interested in their console. Third party developers completely ditched the Gamecube, even though it was a perfectly viable console, and way ahead of the PS2. That was a huge loss to Nintendo. Now they come and add motion controls to the Wii and third party devs loved it, and most consumers loved it. They have their stats, and from a financial standpoint it would be stupid to try to go back to just giving people "more power."
